For Swiss alternative investment firm Partners Group, the key investment theme is backing businesses with transformative growth.
“If you’re just backing an existing trend, you’re effectively getting returns of the beta of the market. Whereas if you’re able to spot where there’s going to be transformative growth, that’s when you really get the alpha and higher returns,” said Cyrus Driver, who spearheads the firm’s private equity tech investments.
Driver was speaking at the Asia PE-VC Summit 2021 organised by DealStreetAsia on Sept. 29.
The Partners Group is also more bullish on tech opportunities in Southeast Asia, compared with those in other Asian markets such as India or China, said Driver at a fireside chat titled ‘Applying global lessons to Asian tech investments‘ at the summit.
