Trade finance specialist <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Bachmann%20&amp; Welser">Bachmann &amp; Welser</a> is launching a $2-billion project finance fund backed by private and institutional investors in March, coinciding with the opening of its Asian headquarters in Hong Kong.
In a statement, the United Kingdom-headquartered global trade financier said the <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=B&amp;W%20Global Project Finance Fund">B&amp;W Global Project Finance Fund</a> will focus on infrastructures and businesses that can make &#8220;a measurable difference to people&#8217;s financial capability&#8221;.
&#8220;There will also be funding available to scale up existing programs being financed by Bachmann &amp; Welser, which have already demonstrated results to test the effectiveness of the project when reaching a wider group of people,&#8221; the company said.
Bachmann &amp; Welser did not specify the private and institutional investors backing the project finance fund but said funding will be available to organizations and companies globally.
The move, it added, is intended to enhance the company’s cross-border commercial lending arm to projects in emerging economies as well as in advanced countries.
&#8220;We are pleased to be able to channel this funding to businesses/ organizations that can really deliver on promises… We hope to increase the size of the fund by the end of this financial year,&#8221; Edward Bachmann, Chief Executive for Bachmann &amp; Welser, said.
The company, founded by experienced former City of London financiers and investment bankers, has $1.6 billion assets under management as of January 2, 2018. It provides trade finance services, financial instruments, and global funding solutions to clients. Its global financing business employs over 640 people.
Bachmann &amp; Welser has a substantial presence through project finance initiatives in Africa, Asia, and South America.

The latest fund is intended to enhance Bachmann & Welser's cross-border commercial lending arm to projects in emerging economies and advanced countries.
