Healthtech startup BeatO and education technology form IndigoLearn have raised funding, while Kansai Nerolac is acquiring Goa-based Marpol for $5.5 million.
<h3>Healthtech startup BeatO raises $1.3m</h3>
Diabetes management app BeatO has raised a $1.3 million institutional round of funding led by <a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/leo-capital" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Leo Capital</a> and venture capital firm <a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/blume" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Blume Ventures</a>.
&#8220;With this funding, we plan to continue adding greater value to our customers through even better technology and distribution. We will also supplement our existing range of product categories including diabetic snacks and specialty foods,&#8221; said BeatO co-founders Yash Sehgal and Abhishek Kumar in a statement.
Delhi-based Arx Technologies, which operates the BeatO app, had previously raised an angel round from a few individual investors, including Rajeev Chitrabhanu and Vishal Sampat.
Founded in 2015, BeatO offers a comprehensive diabetes management and care platform through its glucose monitoring solutions on its app. It also offers diabetes-specific products such as diabetic snacks, specialty food and footwear.
<h3>IndigoLearn raises $150K from angel investors</h3>
Edtech startup IndigoLearn has raised $150,000 in a seed funding round from a clutch of angel investors from India, the US and Europe.
The angel investors in the round include Maheshwar Peri, founder and chairman of Careers360, and Jamshed Jeejeebhoy, director at Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Pvt. Ltd.
The Hyderabad-based startup plans to use the funds to expand its student base, launch new products and develop its product and content, according to an official statement.
Founded in 2017, IndigoLearn provides e-learning solutions through bite-sized modules and visual content to students and professionals in accounting and finance.
<h3>Kansai Nerolac acquires Marpol for $5.5m</h3>
<a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/kansai-nerolac" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kansai Nerolac Paints</a> has entered into an agreement to acquire 100 per cent of Marpol for an aggregate consideration of Rs. 36 crore ($5.5 million) before adjustments due to legal and financial due diligence.
In a filing to the stock exchanges, Kansai Nerolac said, &#8220;The company expects post acquisition synergy benefits in raw material and other miscellaneous costs.&#8221;
The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of May.
Goa-based Marpol is in the powder coating business and manufactures products such as epoxy polyester, pure polyester, pure epoxy and polyurethane powder.
