India Dealbook: BeYouPlus, Lokal raise funding; Restaurateur launches cloud kitchen incubator

Gurugram-based healthcare startup BeYouPlus has garnered as much as $3.2 million in funding from investors to expand its operations, while hyperlocal news platform Lokal has bagged $3 million from a slew of investors including 3one4 Capital, Y Combinator, RB Investments, and SOMA Capital, among others. In a separate development, foods services business entrepreneur Karan Tanna has established investment and incubation company Ghost Kitchens Pvt Ltd to invest in startups operating in the cloud kitchen segment.

BeYouPlus raises $3.2m in Series A

Gurugram-based healthcare startup BeYouPlus has garnered as much as $3.2 million in funding from investors to expand its operations, per media reports.

The round has been led by IvyCap Ventures, with participation from Madison Capital and Singapore Angel Network.

This marks the Series A round of funding for the startup. The corpus raised will help it to spruce up its technological infrastructure besides expanding its operation to new markets.

BeYouPlus, earlier known as MyDermacy, offers a slew of daycare procedures such as laser hair reduction, laser skin toning, among others, by partnering with clinics.

Hyperlocal news startup Lokal raises $3m

Hyperlocal news platform Lokal has bagged $3 million from a slew of investors including 3one4 Capital, Y Combinator, RB Investments, and SOMA Capital, among others, according to a report by Inc42.

Its existing investor India Quotient has also participated in the funding round that saw the participation of others.

Established in June 2018, the Bengaluru-headquartered startup offers district-level local news in regional languages. It also captures jobs, classifieds and matrimonial ads, among others.

The funds raised will help the startup improve its product, spruce up its team and foray into newer markets.

Restaurateur launches cloud kitchen incubator 

Foods services business entrepreneur Karan Tanna has established investment and incubation company Ghost Kitchens Pvt Ltd to invest in startups operating in the cloud kitchen segment, according to a report by YourStory.

The idea is to focus on the country’s booming food delivery market and incubate startups that focus on home delivery, the report added.

With a corpus of $3 million, Ghost Kitchens plans to invest in startups specializing in different cuisines such as Indian, Chinese, South Indian to those making desserts and milkshakes, among others.

The company is expected will provide an opportunity to home chefs, who are looking to develop their brands for home delivery.
