Blue Planet Environmental Solutions Pte. Ltd has acquired Indian organic waste processing company, Xeon Waste Managers LLP (Xeon) for an undisclosed sum, according to an announcement.
The move comes shortly after the Singapore-based company announced a strategic acquisition of a UK-based green building product manufacturing company, Virtus Concrete Solutions Ltd.
Xeon’s key innovation is a containerized solution that converts organic waste into energy. The compact unit, called EnergyBin, processes segregated organic waste including food scraps, garden clippings, vegetable peel and organic sludge on site, making it an ideal solution for urban, semi-urban and rural areas.
“Our aim is to provide the best solutions in waste management that are commercially attractive as well as provide positive environmental and social impact. With Xeon, we will be able to provide an innovative solution that is complementary to our existing capabilities to process organic food waste,” said Madhujeet Chimni, founder, Blue Planet.
Xeon’s technology complements Blue Planet‘s core business strategy, which adopts a triple bottom line approach focused on people, planet and prosperity.
“We see this acquisition as a critical step towards expanding our footprint and expertise in anaerobic digestion,” Chimni said.
With Blue Planet’s assistance, Xeon will look at expanding its operations in South East Asia including markets in Malaysia, Vietnam and Singapore.
“By partnering with Blue Planet, we hope to provide this technology to all relevant stakeholders in the region and fulfil our goal to be the leader of organic waste solutions in Asia,” said Vishal Khalde, founder and director, Xeon.
Founded in 2017, Blue Planet is a sustainable waste management solutions enterprise with an operational footprint across Singapore, India, Vietnam and the United Kingdom.
Recently, the Singapore-based company acquired Globecycle Holding Sdn. Bhd. (Globecycle), a Malaysian company that specializes in handling industrial waste, for an undisclosed sum.
Earlier, it raised an undisclosed sum from Malaysian private equity firm OSK Ventures International Berhad.
Launched in 2013, Xeon is headquartered in Pune, Maharashtra. The company is the creator of EnergyBin, which is a state-of-the-art biogas plant that converts organic waste into gas or electricity in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
