The founder of India’s most valued edtech company and also its biggest loss-making unicorn, Raveendran Byju, has apologised to employees who were laid off last month.

In an email to the former employees, Byju said changes in macroeconomic factors were primarily responsible for the layoffs, emphasising that the number affected is not more than 5% of the company’s total employee base of 50,000.
