China’s JINXIN Medical Investment Group Limited (JINXIN Healthcare) has secured an undisclosed amount of investment from Capital Group Private Markets (CGPM) and <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/tag/GL-Capital/">GL Capital</a> by offloading a 29 per cent stake.
In a press release, JINXIN Healthcare said that the investment was led by CGPM, part of US-based Capital Group Companies, and joined by China healthcare-focused fund GL Capital.
JINXIN Healthcare is one of the largest obstetrics and gynaecology hospital chains in Sichuan Province which has a population of 87 million. In 2017, it completed about 20,000 maternity deliveries.
A subsidiary of Chinese healthcare giant Jinxin group, JINXIN Healthcare has a flagship hospital, Sichuan Jinxin Women&#8217;s and Children&#8217;s Hospital, which claims to be Asia&#8217;s largest single-specialty hospital that has passed the international JCI accreditation.
Jinxin group said that the backing of the two new investors will help it to &#8220;further raise the governance standards and gain access to the capital market&#8221;.
Going forward, the group says it will continue to seize opportunities in key markets, deepen the strategic layout of globalization and increase its international competitiveness.
Commenting on the investment, CGPM partner Nick Chen said, &#8220;The fruit of the hard work of several generations over 67 years, JINXIN Healthcare has become a rare privately-owned healthcare company in China that is able to compete with the best local public hospitals and even take a leading position in the medical specialties it operates in.&#8221;
China is set to see more investments in healthcare with the sprouting of new funds dedicated to the sector.
One of the latest of such funds to be launched is a $310-million healthcare fund by Legend Capital, the venture and growth capital arm of China’s Legend Holdings. The fund, which recently hit its first close at $156 million, will target investments in innovative medicine, precision treatment, medical devices, diagnostic technologies and medical services, and genetic technologies. It will also consider both early- and later-stage investments.
