<a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Centurion+Private+Equity">Centurion Private Equity</a> has led a S$5 million ($3.6 million) pre-series A round in Singapore-based fintech firm <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=OOjiBO">OOjiBO</a>, the company said on Thursday.
Centurion’s director Wong Kok Hoe has also joined OOjiBO’s board of directors.
OOjiBO, which was founded in 2014 by Yeng Fook Hoo, Willian Pu and Wong Hok Siong, focuses on building and providing end-to-end solution to unbanked and underserved population in ASEAN.
It has fully implemented its platform in Myanmar. It claims that its platform is used by mobile banking customers of one of the top four banks in Myanmar and has a monthly average of 100,000 transactions with a monthly growth rate of 30 per cent.
“The banking industry started more than 200 years ago, and it was designed to cater specifically to the upper and middle class in mind. With the change of technology, banking can now reach to a larger demographic beyond that group, and that is what OOjiBO represents,” said Yeng.
Currently, it has 20 employees working out of its offices in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Myanmar. Yeng said that it is in the progress to implement OOjiBO in Thailand soon and will roll out in other ASEAN countries in the future.
