China Deal Monitor: Cybersecurity firm Tophant bags over $14m and more

Shanghai-based cybersecurity technology firm Tophant Inc has garnered more than 100 million yuan ($14 million) in a Series C round of financing led by Eastern Bell Capital, according to a company statement on Monday. 

Other investors include Neeq-listed private equity company Cowin Capital, AI-focused Linear Capital, Shenzhen Hui Capital Limited, and Yinxinggu Capital’s unit. CMSC, an investment vehicle of HK-listed China Merchants Securities, acted as a financial advisor. 

Tophant offers intelligent cybersecurity solutions for government enterprises. Established in 2014, it has managed three platforms comprising cybersecurity testing, security monitoring and data analysis.

It serves over 600 clients across sectors such as internet finance, smart devices, entertainment, e-commerce, retail, internet of things (IoT), and airlines. The company has offices in Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Nanjing. 

Tophant will use the funds to further enhance R&D and accelerate cloud-driven big data solutions. 

Eastern Bell Capital is a Chinese ecosystem-based fund focused on logistics, supply chain, retail & brands, and data technology. Its portfolio includes Deppon Logistics, JD Logistics, M&G, G7, HIVE BOX, YunjiWeidian, ZKH, among others.
