Homegrown private equity firm <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=ChrysCapital" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ChrysCapital</a> has roped in Harsh Mariwala, the founder of consumer goods company <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Marico Ltd" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Marico Ltd</a>, as a senior advisor.
The company has also rejigged its top team and named Sanjay Kukreja as its new chief investment officer and Ashley Menezes as the chief operating officer, it said in a statement.
Kukreja will work closely with each sector team, overseeing portfolio construction, investments and exits. Menezes will lead all operations related to entry and exit processes for the firm. He has been managing ChrysCapital’s operations for finance, fund structure and setup, and deal negotiations and execution, the company said.
Meanwhile, Sanjiv Kaul, a partner at the firm, will lead portfolio management across all sectors and build ChrysCapital’s value enhancement team, called Enhancin, while continuing to head pharmaceutical investments.
Ashish Agrawal has recently been promoted to managing director and will lead the firm’s efforts in the financial services sector, it added.
The new appointments come almost two months after ChrysCapital announced the completion of the fundraising process for its eighth fund, which overshot its hard cap of $850 million. The company has already deployed about 80 per cent of its previous fund, ChrysCapital VII, which was raised in late 2016 with a $600-million corpus.
ChrysCapital closed its sixth fund at $510 million in 2012, significantly smaller than its fifth fund, which had closed at $960 million in 2007. The firm currently has $4 billion worth of assets under management.
In December, ChrysCapital announced picking up a majority stake in US-based GeBBS Healthcare Solutions for an undisclosed amount. The firm’s current and past investments include HCL Technologies, L&amp;T Infotech, LiquidHub, Infogain, Mankind Pharma, Hero FinCorp and National Stock Exchange of India.
ChrysCapital had roped in HCL Technologies Ltd CEO Vineet Nayar and former State Bank of India chairman &amp; managing director Arundhati Bhattacharya as advisors to the firm last year.
