<a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=CLSA Capital Partners" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CLSA Capital Partners</a> on Friday announced that <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Sunrise Capital" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sunrise Capital&#8217;s</a> third fund has invested in Tokyo-headquartered <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=NHOSA Corporation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NHOSA Corporation</a>, an electronic health record (EHR) system provider.
Sunrise III, a CLSA fund that taps mid-cap companies in Japan, has invested in NHOSA via a management buyout deal. Financial details of the deal were, however, not disclosed.
Established in 1979, NHOSA operates primarily in the dental sector and develops and distributes specialized EHR systems to dental clinics across Japan. It also claims to provide customised systems and maintenance services to 10,000 clients through 13 directly managed branches and a network of distributors nationwide.
There will be no material changes to NHOSA&#8217;s company name, brand and business operations, CLSA said in a statement.
Hitoki Ishihama, President of NHOSA, said, &#8220;The medical industry is undergoing dramatic changes driven by external factors such as declining birth rate/aging population and rapid advancement in Internet of Things technology and the need for change is increasing. Given the changes in the medical industry, it is necessary to expand our business beyond the current product offering and business domain to ensure we are able to adapt quickly to rapid industry changes and anticipate clients’ future needs.&#8221;
Currently, NHOSA employs 300 people and its revenue for the fiscal year ended May 2017 stood at approximately JPY4.6 billion.
&#8220;The quality of the products and after-care services along with the company’s strong sales capabilities are of the highest standards within the industry. Their stable client base is also equally highly attractive and we believe there is potential to further increase market share. We will continue to optimize the company’s current strengths developed throughout its long history,&#8221; said Megumi Kiyozuka, head of Sunrise Capital.
Sunrise Capital has completed investments in 14 companies since its establishment in 2006. In March, it announced the acquisition of a majority stake in pan-Japan beauty salon franchise Agu Group’s KK Loiness and B-first KK for over $94.16 million.
In February, it had agreed to acquire Marubeni Mates Ltd, a full-suite service provider of uniforms in Japan, for an undisclosed amount.
CLSA Capital Partners, the asset management arm of Hong Kong-based CLSA, has more than $4 billion under management and offices across the region, including Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo.
