DBS Group said on Thursday Sebastian Paredes, the top boss of its Hong Kong unit, will retire in March next year after nearly two decades in the role.
Paredes, who will also retire as Head of North Asia, took the helm of DBS Hong Kong in September 2010. He has also served as chairman of DBS China since April 2023, overseeing the group’s North Asia franchise, which covers Hong Kong, mainland China and Taiwan.
He will be replaced by Ng Sier Han, who has been with the bank since 2004 and is currently the chief of DBS Taiwan, subject to regulatory approval.
Lim Chu Chong, president director of DBS Indonesia, will assume the top role at DBS Taiwan effective January 2027.
A banker for more than 40 years, Paredes was president director of PT Bank Danamon Indonesia before joining DBS. Before Danamon, he spent 20 years at Citigroup in South America, Central America, Turkey and Central Asia and was Head of Sub-Saharan Africa.
DBS said he will stay with the bank as senior advisor after his retirement.
