51Autogo, a mobile app that aims to improve customer experience at gas stations, has received RMB 100 million ($15 million) series A+ funding from Gobi Partners and existing investors<a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.zhenfund.com/" target="_blank"> Zhen Fund </a>and <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.renren-inc.com/en/" target="_blank">Renren Inc</a>.
Previously, 51Autogo received $10 million in angel and series A rounds from Zhen Fund and Renren.
51Autogo was founded in February 2015 as an application that helps consumers pay online at gas stations. It currently operates in 600 gas stations in 38 cities in China, as reported by ChinaMoneyNetwork. It claims monthly active users of 1.6 million.
China has more than 100,000 gas stations. About half of them are privately operated, while the remaining 50 per cent are dominated by state-owned enterprises, <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.petrochina.com.cn/ptr/" target="_blank">PetroChina</a> and <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.sinopecgroup.com/group/en/" target="_blank">Sinopec</a>.
Most of these private gas stations are suffering from the lack of scale, branding and marketing tools, and consequently have average volume of around 60 per cent to 70 per cent that of the two oil giants.
Going forward, the company aims to be present in over 1,000 by the end of this year. It also expects to reach daily transaction value of RMB10 million.
