Singapore-based personal finance media publisher <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=DollarsAndSense.sg">DollarsAndSense.sg</a> has announced its acquisition of <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=fundMyLife">fundMyLife</a>, a local financial planning startup that connects consumers to financial advisors via a private platform.
Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Founded in early 2017, fundMyLife operates a platform that allows users to receive answers from qualified financial professionals. DollarsAndSense co-founder and managing director Timothy Ho said the deal gives the company the opportunity to identify gaps in Singaporeans&#8217; financial planning knowledge.
“The acquisition of fundMyLife will give people in Singapore a secure way to receive personalised answers from trusted professionals for their financial planning and insurance questions,&#8221; Ho said.
fundMyLife co-founders Jackie Tan and Wesley Goi will remain on board to ensure continuity, per a company statement.
Last year, fundMyLife acquired <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=ConsultWho.sg">ConsultWho.sg</a>, a company that also provides a Q&amp;A platform for users seeking financial advice and connecting financial advisors to potential clients.
DollarsAndSense has been working closely with fundMyLife on multiple areas, including affiliate partnerships, content marketing and improving engagement with the financial adviser community.
<a href="https://www.manulife.com.sg/about-us/newsroom/millennials-in-singapore-prioritise-spending-on-short-term-goals-1-november-2018.html">Manulife Singapore had reported</a> that one in two millennials in the city-state have started saving for the future but a majority of them see short-term life goals, such as creating an Instagram-worthy home, as being more important than saving for retirement.
Millennials are also spending more than any other generation on their desired life stage goals splurging or expecting to splurge an average of $177,000 on the renovation of their first house and over $209,000 on the purchase of their first car, over 45 per cent more than other generations.
