Philippine universal bank <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.eastwestbanker.com">EastWest Banking Corporation</a> has signed a $2.2 million (P100.3 million) 12-year loan agreement with the local government of Pantabangan, in Nueva Ecija province for town development.
The loan is guaranteed by the LGU Guarantee Corp, which enjoys a PRS Aa+ rating from the Philippine Rating Services Corporation.
Half of the loan proceeds will be spent on farm-to-market roads, like the construction and total rehabilitation of roads in six barangays (villages) to enable efficient transport of agricultural products and reduce spoilage.
The other half will be used for the construction of a transport terminal for public utility buses, jeeps and tricycles where locals can load and unload passengers and ease traffic. The terminal will include a commercial complex and will be built on a 1,000-square meter lot owned by the local government.
EasWest said the Pantabangan town development project is in line with the bank&#8217;s goal of improving the lives in the communities it serves as the resulting improvement in transport will boost tourism and agriculture.
EastWest&#8217;s last trading price increased 0.74 per cent or P0.150 to close at P20.50.
