Trendlines portfolio firm EdenShield has raised a $2 million investment while BreadTalk and Song Fa have incorporated a joint venture (JV) in Shanghai.
<h3>EdenShield raises $2m</h3>
EdenShield, an agriculture technology firm in the portfolio of <a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/trendlines-group" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Trendlines Group</a>, has raised $2 million (S$2.7 million) from strategic and financial investors. Kibbutz Yotvata, located in southern Israel, was a lead investor in the round along with venture capital crowdfunding firm <a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/ourcrowd" target="_blank" rel="noopener">OurCrowd</a>.
Investment proceeds will fund the acceleration of sales, expand farming operations at Kibbutz Yotvata and to expand portfolio of natural non-toxic crop protection products.
Prior to this round, EdenShield had raised $2.8 million since being founded in 2012. The company is developing and commercialising natural plant-based crop protection solutions.
<h3>BreadTalk-Song Fa JV launches in Shanghai</h3>
BreadTalk’s ba kut teh  JV with Song Fa Venture has incorporated a wholly-owned subsidiary in Shanghai. Bak kut teh is a pork-based soup with its origins in the Malayan peninsula.
BTG-Song Fa Venture, which is 90%-owned by BreadTalk, incorporated Song Yu (Shanghai) Management Co.
According to a filing, the registered capital of this firm is $3.01 million and its principal activities include restaurant management, corporate management consultation, and import and export business and provision of relevant services.
The launch of the JV is funded through internal resources.
