VCs need to acknowledge their bias first to address gender funding gap, says EQUO founder Tran-Vu

EQUO founder and CEO Marina Tran-Vu

Marina Tran-Vu launched her startup, sustainable products maker EQUO, in 2020 in the middle of the pandemic. A solo female founder, she says she has seen gender bias among venture capitalists manifest itself in several different ways.

From being asked endless questions about her personal life to being advised to find a co-founder in order to survive, she says the differential treatment of female founders does not stop even after they have raised funding.
