Singapore-based real asset manager ESR has appointed Roy Teo as head of Southeast Asia, effective January 2027, as the firm looks to strengthen its regional operations and portfolio management.

Based in Singapore, Teo will oversee the group’s business and operations across Southeast Asia, including development, asset management, and property management, according to a Monday announcement.

He will also join ESR’s executive leadership team, where he will advance strategic initiatives, enhance portfolio value, and improve operational performance across the region.

Singapore will be a key priority under his leadership, with Teo expected to work alongside the management of ESR-REIT, the group’s Singapore-listed flagship regional vehicle.

Teo joins ESR from SB Asset & Investment Management, where he served as chief executive officer. He previously led SB REIT Management, overseeing Soilbuild Business Space REIT through its growth, regional expansion and eventual privatisation.

He brings more than 25 years of experience spanning real estate investment management, capital management and portfolio operations. Earlier in his career, he held senior investment and logistics portfolio positions at Ascendas Fund Management.

ESR is an Asia-Pacific real asset owner and manager focused on logistics real estate and data centres. Its operations span Australia and New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Greater China, Southeast Asia and India, with a presence in Europe.

The appointment comes as ESR continues to oversee its regional real estate platform, with Singapore positioned as a priority market for its Southeast Asian business.

In October, the firm announced its plans to expand to the Middle East, targeting logistics and data centre projects with a potential end value of more than $10 billion.
