<a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/tag/Fullerton-Fund-Management">Fullerton Fund Management</a>, an investment firm under Singapore state investor <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/tag/Temasek/">Temasek</a>, is setting up a private equity team to strengthen its private market capabilities.
The firm on Tuesday announced that Tan Huck Khim, formerly with Credit Suisse&#8217;s customised fund investment group, joined Fullerton in December as its Head of Private Equity. He will be supported by Kenneth Chia, a former AIA senior manager, who will join Fullerton on 7 January 2019 as Vice President, Private Equity.
Khim, who will report to Fullerton Chief Investment Officer Patrick Yeo, will be responsible for driving the firm’s PE strategies, managing its PE portfolios, and developing investment solutions for clients, per an official statement.
Yeo said the addition of a Private Equity team ensures that Fullerton’s investment capabilities can remain competitive as it extends the firm’s comprehensive range of investment solutions to address the long-term needs of its clients.
According to CEO Jenny Sofian, the new additions are part of the firm’s ambition to bring its business to the next level.
“Huck Khim’s appointment as Head of Private Equity represents new leadership in PE, which strengthens our private market capabilities to serve a wider group of client segments. This is in line with our ambition to grow Fullerton’s footprint and be a leading asset management player,” she said.
In addition to the appointment of Khim and Chia, Fullerton has also appointed Mark Yuen, a former director at Prudential’s Eastspring Investment, as its new Chief Business Development Officer.
Fullerton describes itself as an Asia-based investment specialist, with capabilities that span equities, fixed income, multi-asset and alternatives, including private equity.
Prior to its establishment in 2003, Fullerton’s investment team operated as the internal fund management division within Temasek. In November 2017, Fullerton announced a strategic partnership with Singapore insurer NTUC Income to manage a portfolio of its insurance assets worth S$23 billion ($17 billion).
