ISS Global, a multinational facility services provider, is said to be in final discussions to divest part of its Indonesian business to a local conglomerate, according to two people familiar with the development.
The deal value could be in the region of $10-20 million, the sources said.
ISS has been present in Indonesia since 1996. During the 21 years of its operations, ISS Indonesia has grown to become one of the country&#8217;s leading integrated facility service companies with over 62.000 employees, 3.000 clients, and nine branch offices across Medan, Pekanbaru, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, Balikpapan, Makassar, Bali, Dan Palembang, according to its LinkedIn profile.
An e-mail sent to ISS seeking more information went unanswered at the time of publishing this article.
Currently, ISS Indonesia offers seven services: cleaning, security, property, catering, parking, support, integrated facility services. ISS may be looking to divest its parking and security services, according to the sources mentioned above.
The Indonesia deal likely forms part of the firm&#8217;s global strategy of divesting from non-core services in its portfolio. In  September 2018, ISS Global signed an agreement to divest non-core single-services cleaning portfolio in the Netherlands to Dutch cleaning company CSU.
Its decision to sell part of the Indonesia operations might be in line with its larger plan of divesting some of its non core assets, the sources added.
In 2014, ISS shares were floated on the Copenhagen stock exchange, raising 8 billion Danish kroner ($1.5 billion) in the biggest public listing on a Nordic exchange in a long time.
The Asian market has seen some private equity-led deal-making in the facilities management space. In August this year, EQT Mid Market Asia III, the $800-million Asia mid-market-focused fund of private equity firm EQT Partners, acquired a 40 per cent stake in China Shine, a China-focused facility management service provider, for an undisclosed amount.
Similarly, earlier this year, CITIC Capital Partners, the private equity arm of CITIC Capital Holdings Limited, announced that its China buyout fund completed the acquisition of a majority stake in facility management service provider Jiangsu SKY Facility Management Co., Ltd.
