<a style="color: #000080;" href="http://globe.com.ph">Globe Telecom Inc</a> announced that it raised up to $152 million in debt as it gears to boost network capacities for its mobile data business in the Philippines.
The listed mobile carrier said it signed a 10-year $107 million (P10 billion), and a 7-year $45 million term loan with local commercial bank the <a style="color: #000080;" href="www.metrobank.com.ph">Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co (Metrobank)</a>.
Included in the Ayala-led telco&#8217;s business strategy aside from mobile data, is to invest more in its broadband network, capacities for wireless data, LTE, and domestic and international transmission facilities.

Globe is more likely to partner with other digital companies even as it plans to further strengthen its current ones with the likes of Facebook, Viber, Spotify, NBA, and HOOQ which all resulted in emergence of various digital content products and services that include OTT applications, music, video streaming, gaming and social media. This allowed the company to continue capitalizing on these partnerships to further seed data adoption among its customers.
&#8220;This new loan facility from Metrobank will help us address the demands of our customers in their continuing shift to a digital lifestyle. Globe is committed to invest in additional network capacities to handle the robust growth in data traffic from its customers,&#8221; said Globe chief financial officer Alberto de Larrazabal.

Globe has invested about P11.4 billion in capital expenditures in the first half of 2015 and closed the period with consolidated service revenues of P53.8 billion, which is 13 per cent higher than the P47.7 billion reported last year. The company attributed this to expanding mobile and the broadband customer bases, strong demand for data connectivity as more and more of its customers continue to adopt a digital lifestyle.
Globe also posted a P9.5 billion in revenues from its mobile browsing and other data businesses, which is 53 per cent higher of the same period last year.

&#8220;This achievement brought the contribution of mobile data revenues to 23 per cent of total mobile revenues as of first half of 2015, coming from 16 per cent the previous year. With mobile data business growing at a rapid pace, data users from overall Globe mobile customer base grew to 37 per cent during the same period, a substantial increase from previous year&#8217;s 17 per cent. Wireless data traffic in the Globe network also increased by 82 per cent year-on-year with the growing number of smartphone users and applications that leverage the internet,&#8221; Globe added.
Globe reported it posted its highest ever consolidated service revenues of P27.6 billion for the second quarter of the year, outpacing both the record-level revenues in the seasonally strong fourth quarter of 2014 of P26.3 Billion and last quarter’s P26.2 Billion by 5 per cent.
Globe&#8217;s last trading price decreased 0.08 per cent or P2.00 to close at P2,354.
