Ride-hailing firm Go-Jek is reportedly planning to hire 200 engineers in India, while community platform Kaskus has announced an investment in Natural Language Processor (NPL) startup Prosa.ai.
<h3>Go-Jek plans to hire 200 engineers in India</h3>
Indonesian ride-hailing giant Go-Jek is looking to hire 200 engineers in Bengaluru, India, to support its expanding portfolio of products, according to a <a href="https://tech.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/corporate/go-jek-to-hire-upto-200-engineers-in-bengaluru/66082311">report</a> by Economic Times.
Go-Jek, the report said, says it will be hiring for key roles including data scientists, full-stack engineers, data engineers, product managers, UI/UX designers and backend engineers to strengthen its existing portfolio of 18 products, which include food delivery, taxi-sharing, logistics and digital payments.
Furthermore, the new team will also work on new products and services.
Go-Jek, which raised a $1.5-billion funding round earlier this year, is reportedly in talks to raise at least $2 billion to accelerate its overseas expansion. The company, which has launched local units in Vietnam (under the brand Go-Viet) and Thailand (GET), is understood to be eyeing opportunities in Singapore and the Philippines.
<h3>Kaskus invests in Prosa.ai</h3>
Indonesia’s largest community online portal Kaskus has made an investment in local Natural Language Processors (NLP) startup Prosa.ai, the former announced in a statement.
Prosa.ai is a technology company specializing in NLP using local Indonesian language. The company focuses on text and speech-based processing tools services that are custom made according to the needs of clients or partners.
Since it was founded at the start of this year, Prosa.ai has provided its services to Kumparan, Beritagar.id, KASKUS, GDP Labs and government bodies.
Kaskus said that it will use the technology and tools developed by Prosa.ai to filter hoax and negative news on its forum in an effort to bring more positive content to Kaskusers, or its users.
Kaskus is backed by GDP Venture, the venture capital arm of cigarette manufacturer Djarum Group. The online platform holds a number of digital business units including automotive marketplace Garasi.id, which was launched in August 2017.
