Ride-hailing giant <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/tag/Grab/">Grab</a> has launched GrabPet Beta, an on-demand pet-friendly transportation service, in Singapore, according to an official release.
GrabPet Beta allows customers to book transportation services to ferry their dogs, cats and other animal companions around Singapore. Grab has already trained hundreds of driver-partners for the new service and will continue to expand the GrabPet fleet, it said in the release.
Users can book a ride on-demand anytime without bookings or reservations in advance.  The new service will also be an additional revenue stream for Grab driver-partners, and they can choose when they want to provide the service by toggling it on or off through the app.
The Singapore-based ride-hailing major is also said to be bullish on deploying electric vehicle fleet in Indonesia. According to CNBC Indonesia, Grab is keen to introduce the EV fleet in partnership with South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai.
Last year, Grab pulled in $250 million financing from automaker <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/tag/Hyundai-Motor">Hyundai Motor</a> and its affiliate Kia Motors, bringing the total funds raised in an ongoing Series H round to $2.7 billion.
As part of the strategic investment, Grab, Hyundai and Kia will form a Southeast Asia-wide electric vehicle (EV) partnership aimed at driving EV adoption in the region.
In August 2018, Grab and SP Group (SP) made a strategic partnership through which Grab would bring in 200 new fast-charging electric vehicles (EVs) and use SP’s fast-charging network. The new fleet has been progressively rolled out in Singapore from early this year.
As part of Grab&#8217;s Series H round, last month, Japanese financial services company Tokyo Century announced an undisclosed investment in Grab. The announcement came after the Singapore-headquartered firm raised $200 million from travel firm Booking Holdings. Its valuation after that funding was believed to be around $11 billion.
According to an official statement, Tokyo Century has made a capital investment in Grab’s car rental arm, Grab Rentals, in addition to a strategic investment in Grab itself.
