Vietnam based <a style="color: #000080" href="http://haiants.vn/news/">Hai An Transport and Stevedoring JSC</a> (Hai An Port) plans to increase its reference stock price of VND37,000 ($1.88) by 8 per cent to VND40,000.
The company has already submitted relevant papers to the Vietnamese State Securities Commission and to the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, where it plans to list 23.2 million shares, “The adjustment reflects more accurately our operation in 2014 and future potentials,” the company said in a statement.
Hai An Port, located in the northern coastal city of Hai Phong, has a registered capital of VND232 billion ($10.9 million); 27.93 per cent of which is owned by its founding shareholder, logistic firm <a style="color: #000080" href="http://www.marinahanoi.com/mhcweb/index.asp">Hanoi Maritime Holding Company</a> (MHC).
MHC is also listed on the above mentioned exchange.
The port posted a profit of VND133 billion ($6.24 million) last year, an increase of 60 per cent year-on-year. Its total asset by the end of 2014 reached VND739 billion ($34.7 million), a hike of 76.8 per cent over the 2013 figure. According to data from the Hanoi Stock Exchange and the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, the company’s return on sales ratio (from 2012 to September 2014) was relatively higher than other listed players in the industry, including, <a href="http://www.doanxaport.com.vn/web/">Doan Xa Port</a>, <a href="http://www.viconship.com/">Vietnam Container Shipping Corporation</a> and <a href="http://www.dongnai-port.com/">Dong Nai Port</a>, reaching nearly 40 per cent.
Meanwhile, the Hanoi-based firm’s founding company, MHC, is popular with a set of investors. On February 27, MBCapital registered to purchase an additional 1 million of MHC shares (from March 3 to April 1) increasing its holding to almost four million shares, or a 14.66 per cent stake. On the same day, Japan Asia MB Capital announced to have bought some 871,500 shares of the company, a 3.21 per cent.
MHC planned to raised charter capital by VND270 billion ($12.67 million) to more than VND400 billion ($18.8 million) by selling shares to strategic and existing shareholders while issuing ESOP shares worth VND10 billion ($469,500) to its employees. The purpose of the increase was stated by the company as: “to implement financial investment in the operating sector, holding controlling stakes in companies”.
MHC stock soared to its ceiling price during Monday’s session, ending at VND15,000 per share.
