China has pressed self-destruct buttons, which will benefit India: True North's Haresh Chawla

Even as COVID-19 has presented the most formidable challenges and hit the economies hard globally, it has also thrown enormous opportunities for digitisation and innovation, particularly in India, which is home to nearly 700 million internet users.

In a fireside chat at DealStreetAsia PE-VC Summit 2020, True North partner Haresh Chawla discusses the “New digital scripts India will play to in 2021 and beyond” with Govindraj Ethiraj, founder, BoomFactCheck; founder & managing trustee, IndiaSpend.org & Factchecker.in.

According to Chawla, some of the sectors that will witness high growth as a result of digitisation include fintech, edtech, healthcare, entertainment, SaaS, and logistics. And as China has been forced to cut down investments in India, many international funds will now start looking at India.

“Europe is not a place to invest, China is not a place you can go. China has somehow pressed several self-destruct buttons on many fronts. We will see that play out to the advantage of India over the next 5-10 years,” Chawla said.
