Houston-based global real estate developer <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Hines" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hines</a> has announced the opening of its Asia Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong.
The new office is located at Connaught Road in Central, Hong Kong and is the fifth office established in the Asia Pacific since the company’s foray into the region in 1996.
The new headquarters will function as a central hub for making expansions into new geographies throughout Asia. This includes additional real estate investments, development and management opportunities across the region.
Along with the new office, Hines has appointment Ray Lawler, a veteran of the company, as co-CEO to lead the Asia Pacific region.
Lawler will oversee the firm’s overall development, acquisitions and operations activity as well as establishing new ventures in other major Asia Pacific markets.
“Hines is very enthusiastic about the real estate market in the Asia Pacific Region and foresees long-term growth potential in a number of new business opportunities and diverse product categories,” said Lawler.
Prior to his new position, Lawler most recently served at Hines as senior managing director. He joined the company in 2007 as an associate.
Joining Lawler at the office in Hong Kong are Claire Thielke and Drew Huffman as the managing director and director respectively.
They will be responsible for real estate development, asset management, acquisition, disposition, leasing and financing, as well as pursuing new business efforts in Hong Kong and throughout the Asia Pacific Region.
Thielke joined Hines in 2009 and most recently served as its chief operating officer for Investment Management. Huffman has been with the company since 2011 and joins as a director from the California Area of Hines.
Across the Asia Pacific region, Hines has covered 15 projects, the most recent one being One Museum Place in Shanghai, a 60-story prime office tower in the Jing&#8217;an district, built by Shanghai Construction Group.
Globally, Hines is present in 24 cities and has total assets under management of $116.4 billion. Across the Asia Pacific region, Hines has managed over $5.5 billion worth of projects.
