<article><a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.mgm.com/" target="_blank">Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer</a> (MGM), the Hollywood based studio, has become an investor in <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.iflix.com/" target="_blank">iflix</a>, the Internet TV service in Southeast Asia.</article>

<a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.mgm.com/" target="_blank">Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer</a> (MGM), the Hollywood based studio, has become an investor in <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.iflix.com/" target="_blank">iflix</a>, the Internet TV service in Southeast Asia.
The investment represents a significant deepening of the relationship between iflix and MGM, which includes an extensive multi-year content licensing partnership, the company said in a statement.
In May, iflix had also appointed MGM chairman and chief executive officer, Gary Barber, to its advisory board.
Through the partnership agreement MGM contributes premium in-demand television and film content that comprises a portion of the 20,000 movies and television episodes that make up iflix’s extraordinary library of top entertainment content.
A person familiar with the deal noted that MGM will hold a minority stake in the company, via the investment, but did not reveal the stake size nor the investment amount. Majority stakeholders in iflix are <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.catchagroup.com/" target="_blank">Catcha Group</a> and <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.pldt.com/" target="_blank">Philippine Long Distance and Telephone Co</a> (PLDT).
iflix had raised $30 million in April from both Catcha and PLDT.
iflix Group CEO, Mark Britt said: “We are thrilled to have a studio partner and strategic investor of MGM’s caliber join the iflix family. MGM’s substantial weight, influence and resources in the industry will be a critical advantage for us in the development and execution of our strategy as we look to solidify our leadership in the region and expand.”
Britt added that the partnership reaffirms iflix’s commitment to work with the best companies and brands globally. MGM is a leading entertainment company focused on the production and global distribution of film and television content. The company owns one of the world’s deepest libraries of premium film and television content.
Barber commented on iflix as an innovative and rapidly growing service.
“We are always looking at new strategic investment opportunities and this is one about which we are very excited.”
iflix has launched in Malaysia and the Philippines, and will continue to roll out its service in other key Southeast Asian markets, including Thailand and Indonesia throughout 2015, 
Its subscription, priced attractively, allows users to access the service on five devices such as mobile, tablet, computer, or television set, for viewing anywhere, anytime.
