<a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=International Finance Corporation (IFC)" target="_blank" rel="noopener">International Finance Corporation (IFC)</a>, a member of the World Bank Group, seeks to invest $21 million (Rs 138 crore) in <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Leap India" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Leap India Pvt Ltd&#8217;s</a> proposed funding round, said an IFC disclosure.
Mumbai-headquartered Leap India, a supply chain solutions provider, is in advanced talks to raise a funding round of about Rs 300 crore, reported Mint recently.
IFC&#8217;s proposed quasi-equity investment will help the company meet capital expenditure for the next five years, grow operations, and achieve next stage of growth, said the disclosure dated August 9. In addition to the expected equity investment, the team will explore long term debt financing to the company, it added.
LEAP India’s existing investors include Mayfield Fund, IndiaNivesh, Sixth Sense Ventures, TCI Ventures, and SSG Capital Management Group. Sunu Mathew is a majority shareholder in Leap.
Founded in 2013 by Mathew, Leap provides supply chain pooling solutions for wooden pallets and foldable large containers (FLCs) to a variety of industries. Over the last four years, the company has built an asset base of 1.4 million pallets (soft wood) and 29,802 FLCs which are supplied to 327 clients, the disclosure said.
The company has a pan-India network comprising 18 warehouses, 14 contract manufacturing centers and a team of 270 employees.
In January last year, Leap India reportedly raised $13 million in a Series B round of funding from new investors IndiaNivesh Growth Fund, Sixth Sense and TCI Ventures. The round also saw participation from existing investors Mayfield and Marico’s Rishabh Mariwala, who manages Sharp Ventures, the family office of Marico founder and chairperson Harsh Mariwala.
The company received Rs 25 crore ($3.75 million) in debt funding from Avendus Finance, the non-banking financial company of KKR-backed Avendus Capital this May.

In addition to the expected equity investment, IFC will explore long term debt financing to the company, it added.
