Fintech startups Cash Suvidha and Creditas Solutions have received funding along with news portal The Ken and SaaS company UrbanPiper that also raised fresh rounds.
<h3>Cash Suvidha raises $1m in pre-Series A round</h3>
Fintech company <a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/cash-suvidha" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Cash Suvidha </a>has raised $1 million from Initia Holdings, Vipin Agarwal, Partner in India Industrial Growth Fund and others in its pre-Series A round.
According to an official statement, the latest funding will be used to increase the loan books of the company and to further strengthen its technological infrastructure.
In February, Cash Suvidha, which is run by Usha Financial Services Pvt Ltd, had raised a debt of $2.5 million, of which $1.5 million was raised through private placement of non-convertible debentures (NCDs) and $1 million was raised from two financial institutions.
The Delhi-based lender claims to have raised a total debt of $5.2 million and disbursed a total amount of Rs 152 crore since its inception in 2016.
<h3>Existing investor 1Crowd leads new round in Creditas Solutions</h3>
Gurgaon-based fintech firm <a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/creditas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Creditas Solutions</a> raised an undisclosed amount of funding in a round led by its existing investor <a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/1crowd" target="_blank" rel="noopener">1Crowd</a>.
The pre-Series A round also saw participation of Infina Finance, an investment company, angel investors IVF specialist Aniruddha Malpani, entrepreneur Daud Ali and S Sriniwasan, Managing Director – Kotak Investment Advisors.
&#8220;This new round of funding not only gives us the capital to scale exponentially but also validates the faith the Banking sector is reposing in our Solutions,” said Anshuman Panwar, co-founder, Creditas.
The company plans to use the latest funding for expansion of the team, data science capabilities and to make investments in technology, particularly to focus on providing banks a single platform to manage the entire delinquency cycle.
<h3>The Ken raises $228k angel investment</h3>
<a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/the-ken" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Ken</a>, subscriptions-only news platform, has raised around $228,000 from a clutch of angel investors, according to documents filed with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, <a href="https://paper.vc/ken-closes-jp-morgan-alumni-round" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a report</a> by research firm paper.vc cited.
According to the report, investors in the round include Siddharth Bhammar, executive director of investment bank JP Morgan; Anchal Jain, former executive at JP Morgan; and Murali Abburi, managing director of Graticule Asset Management Asia and also a former JP Morgan executive.
In February last year, The Ken had raised $400,000 from a clutch of investors including Aprameya Radhakrishna, co-founder, TaxiForSure; Deepak Natraj, managing director, Aarin Capital; Girish Mathrubootham, founder and CEO, Freshdesk; and Vijay Shekhar Sharma, founder and CEO, Paytm.
<h3>Zoho co-founder, Axilor back UrbanPiper</h3>
 <a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/urbanpiper" target="_blank" rel="noopener">UrbanPiper</a>, which runs a platform that enables hyperlocal businesses to go online, has raised a Pre-Series A round from Kumar Vembu, co-founder of Zoho, and existing investor <a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/axilor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Axilor Ventures</a>.
In 2016, UrbanPiper raised an undisclosed amount in funding from Axilor and a group of angels, including Ram Yalamanchili, a Silicon Valley angel investor. UrbanPiper’s suite of products enable omni-channel ordering and loyalty for the restaurant industry.
&#8220;The funds raised will be used to crystalise our analytics product that will turn data into actionable insights for restaurateurs,&#8221; co-founder and CTO Anirban Majumdar said. &#8220;Data thus generated can be used to achieve longevity in an industry where 60% food businesses fail in the very first year.&#8221;
Founded in 2015, UrbanPiper offers suite of products for omni-channel ordering and loyalty programmes for the restaurant industry. The software is integrated with point-of-sale players as well as aggregators like Zomato, Swiggy and FoodPanda, helping restaurants manage their online presence.
