India Dealbook: Porinju Veliyath picks up stake in Emkay Global; Zapluk merges with Pamperazi; Venture Catalysts backs CoutLoot

Ace investor Porinju Veliyath has picked up 0.5 per cent stake in Emkay Global Financial Services. And while Zapluk has merged with Pamperazi, Venture Catalysts has invested in CoutLoot.

Porinju Veliyath picks up stake in Emkay Global

Porinju Veliyath, MD & Portfolio Manager, Equity Intelligence bought 130,000 shares amounting to 0.53 per cent stake in Emkay Global Financial Services.  The shares were purchased at an average price of Rs 56.93.

Emkay Global Financial Services offers wealth management and advisory services. The company has a market cap of Rs 1.47 billion. The firm offers stock broking and financial services and solutions, such as investment banking, institutional equities, private client broking and depository services.

Veliyath’s other investments include Jubilant Industries, Accel Transmatic, Eastern Treads, Gokaldas Exports among others.

Wellness app Zapluk merges with salon service Pamperazi

Hyderabad-based Zapforce Technologies Pvt Ltd that operates on-demand beauty, wellness and fitness app Zapluk has merged with Chennai-based salon service Pamperazi.

Zapluk, which allows customers to order beauty services at home, had raised angel funding from a group of investors including Alok Sharma, former CEO of Apple India in December last year.

According an Inc42 report, Zapluk is in advanced stage of negotiations for another round of funding, following which it plans to expand into 4 cities.

Venture Catalysts backs fashion e-commerce platform CoutLoot

Fashion e-commerce platform CoutLoot has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Venture Catalysts, according to a report in Inc42.

CoutLoot plans to use the latest funding to strengthen its technology backend, expand its team, and to roll out its campus trendsetter programs in colleges.

“Pre owned clothes is a huge market opportunity to be tapped on account of India’s burgeoning youth population. The CoutLoot team is a very dynamic team, with a strong focus on business economics, which is what attracted our attention,“ Apoorv Ranjan Sharma, co-founder at Venture Catalysts, said.

The investment marks Venture Catalysts’ first investment in the e-commerce space.
