<h3>Simility raises $17.5m in Series B round led by Accel</h3>
US and India-based technology firm Simility has raised $17.5 million in its Series B round of funding led by <a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/accel" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Accel</a>, said<a href="http://epaper.timesgroup.com/Olive/ODN/TheEconomicTimes/#" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> a report</a> in The Economic Times.
The round also saw participation from <a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/paypal" target="_blank" rel="noopener">PayPal</a> along with existing investors The Valley Fund and <a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/trinity-ventures" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Trinity Ventures</a>.
The Palo Alto and Hyderabad-based company plans to use the funds to expand its partner network, sales, partnerships, customer success and data science teams, said the news report.
&#8220;This latest funding round will enable us to enter our next phase of growth by bolstering our team in sales, customer success and data science to meet market demand,&#8221; said Rahul Pangam, CEO, Simility.
The company, founded in 2014, provides cloud-based and on-premise fraud detection software solutions. With the current round, Simility has so far raised total funding of $25 million.
<h3>Aamir Khan backs furniture rental startup Furlenco</h3>
Indian actor Aamir Khan has backed furniture renting startup <a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/furlenco">Furlenco</a>, according to a Times of India <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/venture-capital/aamir-khan-invests-in-furniture-rental-startup-furlenco/articleshow/62030948.cms" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> quoting documents filed by the company with the Registrar of Companies.
According to Khan has invested about Rs 2 crore in the Bengaluru-based Furlenco, as per documents TOI sourced through Paper.vc, an investment data platform.
Last year, Furlenco, operated by Kieraya Furnishing Solutions Pvt. Ltd, had raised $30 million in a Series B funding round led by existing investor<a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/lightbox-ventures" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> LightBox Ventures</a>.
In that round Furlenco raised $15 million in equity from LightBox Ventures, <a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/axis-capital" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Axis Capital</a>, and high net-worth individuals including Gautham Radhakrishnan. While the $15 million in debt in the round had came from banks such as <a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/hdfc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">HDFC Bank Ltd</a>, <a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/kotak-mahindra" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd</a> and Axis Bank Ltd, apart from venture debt firm <a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/intellegrow" target="_blank" rel="noopener">IntelleGrow</a> and undisclosed family offices.
<h3>Restaurant chain Chai Break raises $775k from Venture Catalysts</h3>
Kolkata-based restaurant chain Chai Break has raised Rs 5 core ($775,000) from early stage investor <a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/venture-catalysts" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Venture Catalysts</a> in lieu of a 10 per cent stake.
Launched in 2011, ALP Retail Pvt. Ltd, which runs the chain, currently has 11 outlets, of which eight are in Kolkata, two in Bhubaneswar and one in Durgapur. The company also provides outdoor catering services. The firm is looking to expand Chai Break in at least 10 more cities.
The company is also looking to set up a central kitchen in Kolkata with an investment of Rs 800,000.
