Chinese internet giant <a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/tencent" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tencent Holdings</a> is reportedly looking to invest around $100 million in online fantasy sports platform<a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/dream11" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Dream11</a>, according to <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/tech/internet/internet-giant-tencent-in-advanced-talks-to-invest-100-million-in-dream11/articleshow/63823880.cms" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a report </a>in The Economic Times quoting sources.
As per the sources cited in the report, Tencent has offered a term sheet for a transaction that could value the Mumbai-based firm at a pre-money valuation of $400-$450 million.
Founded six years ago, Dream11 also counts early-stage venture capital firm Kalaari Capital, Renuka Ramnath-led private equity firm Multiples Alternate Asset Management and San Francisco-based investment firm Think Investments as its investors.
If it goes through, the deal will come close on the heels of the Chinese firm participating in a $115 million funding round by music streaming app Gaana in February this year.
<h3>Impact investor Caspian looks to raise $91m</h3>
Hyderabad-based impact investor<a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/caspian" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Caspian</a> is planning to raise Rs 600 crore ($91 million) to invest in startups through novel debt instruments, said <a href="https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/small-biz/startups/newsbuzz/caspian-wants-rs-600-crore-to-try-its-novel-instruments-funding/articleshow/63823955.cms" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a report</a> in The Economic Times.
Caspian currently has four impact funds to invest in startups in social and environmental fields. It is looking to help founders with short-term funds, without having to part with large equity.
The proposed Rs 600 crore would be raised between the debt vehicle and a third equity fund &#8220;out of which about Rs 400 crore is to be invested as debt and Rs 200 crore as equity,&#8221; S Viswanatha Prasad, managing director of Caspian told the news paper.
“This time around, we are expecting increased participation from the domestic institutions,&#8221; he added.
So far Caspian has raised over Rs 1,500 crore and deployed invested most of it in more than 100 startups with 16 equity exits, including two IPOs.
