Online travel firm <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=MakeMyTrip.com">MakeMyTrip.com</a> on Thursday said it has appointed Deepak Tuli, former co-founder and chief operating officer at <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Goibibo">Goibibo</a>, as senior vice president, growth business.
Tuli will focus on building and implementing strategies for growing new business lines in the accommodations segment for the company.
“Accommodations space in the country is growing at a fast pace and is a key focus area at MakeMyTrip. We are confident that under Deepak’s leadership, we will further strengthen our presence in this space. We welcome Deepak into the MakeMyTrip family and wish him an exciting journey ahead,” said Rajesh Magow, co-founder and CEO-India, MakeMyTrip.
Tuli, who comes with over 10 years of experience in e-commerce, with expertise in diverse areas including mobile platforms, digital marketing, product management, P&amp;L management and CRM, among others, said the accommodations segment has emerged as a new area within the travel e-commerce ecosystem.
“My role at MakeMyTrip is exciting and challenging at the same time. I am happy to be a part of the MakeMyTrip family and look forward to having a great time ahead,” he said.
Prior to Goibibo, Tuli was also part of the launch team at <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Yatra">Yatra</a>, where he set up the non-air business for the company.
Bringing Tuli to the management team is in line with the company’s efforts to further strengthen its leadership team, the company said.
MakeMyTrip appointed Saujanya Shrivastava, who was previously chief marketing officer at Bharti AXA Life Insurance, as chief marketing officer earlier this year in January, in addition to hiring Anshuman Bapna, founder of MyGola.com, which was acquired by MakeMyTrip in April 2015, as chief products officer a couple of months later.
