Job advertising technology platform Joveo, Inc  has raised $5 million in a Series A funding round led by <a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/nexus-venture" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nexus Venture Partners.</a>
The US and Hyderabad-based company plans to use this latest funding to accelerate its product offerings, expand partnerships and scale its AI/deep learning layer, Joveo said, in a release.
The round also saw participation from some undisclosed angel investors.
The company also announced the acquisition of New York-based Ripple Media Inc., a programmatic media buyer which partners with agencies to provide an open publisher marketplace and trading expertise. Its team plans, buys, and manages programmatic media for agencies, job boards, and staffing firms.
The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
&#8220;Our vision is to build the most democratic online job marketplace by enhancing the reach and targeting of job boards and agencies alike,&#8221; said Kshitij Jain, CEO and founder, Joveo Inc. &#8220;Unlike others in the industry, we are a pure-play technology which does not compete with agencies or job boards. We are completely agnostic.&#8221;
Joveo was founded by Kshitij Jain, who earlier co-founded Mobolt Inc, an apply technology platform, acquired by Indeed, Inc. The company recently also added Abhinav Gupta, Co-founder &amp; CTO of Rocketfuel to its advisory board.
&#8220;We strongly believe that their next-generation programmatic recruitment platform and integrated apply/click optimization technology will allow the talent management function at enterprises, RPOs, job boards and recruitment agencies to radically improve their hiring efficiency at substantially lower cost-per-hire while accessing a much larger candidate pool outside the current job-board ecosystem,&#8221; said Sameer Brij Verma, Managing Director, Nexus Venture Partners.
Venture capital firm Nexus Venture has been an active investor in India and the Silicon Valley, with investment size ranging from $500,00 to $10 million in early-growth stage companies. It currently manages $1.2 billion across funds, and is reportedly looking to raise around $400 million for its latest fund.
The investment firm most recently participated in a $4.3 million funding round of its portfolio firm <a href="http://dealstreetasia.com/tag/pratilipi" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pratilipi</a>.
