Indonesian tech-based companies are in partnership mode to deliver the right services for Southeast Asia&#8217;s largest emerging digital market.
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Tokopedia partners Alfamart </h3>
Online platform <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://Tokopedia.com" target="_blank">Tokopedia</a> has signed an agreement with retailer <a style="color: #000080;" href="https://www.alfamartku.com" target="_blank">Alfamart</a> that allows customers to pay for items bought online through the nearest outlets. Customers are not required to have a special account to complete a transaction in an Alfamart store.
“The payment will be automatically verified and order will be directly passed to the seller,” said Tokopedia vice president Melissa Siska Juminto.
“The partnership will benefit not only customers but also sellers. This way, order processing will be faster and it will increase the seller’s reputation.”
Previously, Tokopedia had partnered several other retailers such as Indomaret and 7-eleven. It had also launched a programme called Mitra Toppers, which helps merchants develop their businesses by giving them access to capital loans from lenders.
Tokopedia raised $147 million back in April, bringing its total disclosed funding to $247 million, the largest so far in the country.
The company now records more than 7.5 million transactions per month with a 10-20 per cent monthly growth rate. About 69 per cent users access the company’s site using mobile phones. But the vast majority of transactions still happen through the desktop version of the site.

<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Jualo’s escrow account</h3>
<a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.jualo.com" target="_blank">Jualo</a>  has partnered five banks &#8211; including <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.permatabank.com" target="_blank">Bank Permata</a>, <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.bca.co.id/" target="_blank">BCA</a>, and <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.bankmandiri.co.id/" target="_blank">Bank Mandiri</a> &#8211; that have agreed to provide escrow services. The system had been put through a beta test last year and is now ready for launch.
CEO and founder Chaim Fetter said there are still many cases of scams and false online advertisements, leading to a lack of trust between sellers and buyers in Indonesia. This service will solve the problem.
“Jualo Escrow is hoped to create a more comfortable shopping experience for users, and will in turn boost the website’s transaction volumes,” Fetter said.
The system allows Jualo to collect payment from a customer in a special account. The payment will only be passed through to the seller when the customer has received the goods they purchase.
Jualo was launched in January 2014 by Dutch entrepreneur Chaim Fetter. In January, Jualo secured a Series A investment in a round led by NSI Ventures. Existing investor Alpha JWC Ventures also participated in the transaction.

<h3 style="text-align: justify;">Blackberry inks strategic alliance with Emtek </h3>
<a style="color: #000080;" href="http://ca.blackberry.com/" target="_blank">BlackBerry</a> has announced a strategic alliance with <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.emtek.co.id/" target="_blank">PT Elang Mahkota Teknologi Tbk (EMTK)</a> that will provide cross-platform BBM users with access to enriched content and services.
BBM’s social, chat, commerce and content capabilities will be integrated with Emtek’s portfolio of assets and ecosystem. These investments span across broadcast television, web properties, content production and artists.
“Emtek’s impressive background and pedigree in entertainment, content and technology makes them the perfect partner to maximize the potential of BlackBerry’s messaging platform while meeting our financial and operational goals,” said John Chen, Executive Chairman and CEO, BlackBerry.
To strengthen the alliance, Emtek’s digital content arm KMK Online will establish an office in the Toronto area to work closely with BlackBerry. KMK Online has a wide breadth of media assets that will be combined with more than 20 of Emtek’s businesses and investments to bring significant value and services to BBM.
The Emtek Group is the largest media, content and technology businesses in Indonesia. Emtek Group operates three free to air television channels (<a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.sctv.co.id/" target="_blank">SCTV</a>, <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.indosiar.com/" target="_blank">Indosiar</a> and <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.ochanneltv.com/" target="_blank">O-Channel</a>), a Pay-TV business (<a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.nexmedia.co.id/" target="_blank">Nexmedia</a>) and several IT solutions business, and has established a substantial online media presence through its subsidiary PT Kreatif Media Karya (KMK).
