Indonesia&#8217;s online marketplace for freight forwarders, Andalin, is close to securing its Series A investment round likely to be led by Access Venture Capital, according to two people aware of the development.
The Series A round, which is expected to close in a few weeks, is said to be in the region of $2-3 million.
Both Andalin and Access VC declined to comment on a DEALSTREETASIA query seeking further details.
Andalin enables small businesses with handling import and export procedures such as comparing quotes and managing cross-border shipping online. It provides services related to air courier and air cargo, as well as shipping goods by sea.
The Indonesia-based startup was part of the fourth batch of Ideabox accelerator, which was launched in late 2016 as a joint venture between Mountain Partners, Indosat Ooredoo and Kejora to build Indonesia’s next generation of digital companies.
Andalin raised its seed round in January 2017 from Mountain Partners. Founded in 2016, Andalin claims to be the first online marketplace for freight forwarders in export and import activities in Indonesia.
Access Ventures is an early-stage VC firm targeting technology companies in Vietnam, Indonesia, and South Korea. It primarily focuses on companies that follow cross-border growth strategies and chase larger market opportunities. Its investment focus includes tech plays in AI, data analytics, commerce enablers, fintech and platform plays.
Some of its portfolio companies include data management platform Kofera and enterprise chatbot developer Kata.ai from Indonesia; B2B logistics platform Ecotruck, real estate portal Homedy, bus ticketing software startup Vexere, robotics tech platform Ohmni Labs from Vietnam, to name a few. Access is also the investor in Vietnamese mobile payments firm Moca in which Singapore-based ride-hailing major Grab announced a strategic investment last year to strengthen its payments services rollout in southeast Asia.
