Indonesian clean energy company Suryanesia announced on Thursday that it has raised $2 million in a seed round, the company&#8217;s first external financing, amid plans to expand services.
Suryanesia, which currently instals and operates solar panels, is looking to foray into residential solar and add more independent power production lines such as wind power, battery storage, and others.
The seed round was led by Intudo Ventures and joined by a number of angel investors, including unnamed executives from private equity firms and sovereign wealth funds, according to a statement.
Suryanesia plans to use the funding to hire more people as part of efforts to accelerate marketing efforts and project delivery. &#8220;Our mission is to empower consumers, businesses and governments to harness new technologies and solutions that solve climate change,&#8221; Rheza Adhihusada, founder and CEO of Suryanesia, said.
&#8220;As the world’s fourth most populous country that is projected to be the fourth largest economy by 2050, Indonesia acts as a key battleground in the fight against climate change. We are excited to help our clients save and go green, and in doing so accelerate Indonesia’s transition toward renewable energy,&#8221; Adhihusada said.
Founded in August 2021, Suryanesia offers an end-to-end service that allows its clients to use renewable energy sources at their buildings. The company finances, instals, operates, and maintains solar power systems to help clients cut electricity bills and their carbon footprint.
Suyanesia&#8217;s clients range from malls to manufacturers, claiming to reduce their bills between $20,000 to $50,000 annually.
Suryanesia competes against other rising renewable energy startups in Indonesia, including Xurya. The latter announced r<a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/stories/indonesian-solar-startup-xurya-raises-11-5m-more-in-series-a-funding-312999" target="_blank" rel="noopener">aising additional Series A funding in October 2022</a>. In total, Xurya&#8217;s Series A round reached $33 million.
