Japanese private equity firm The Longreach Group has announced the final closing of its third fund, Longreach Capital Partners 3 (LCP3), at $650 million.
According to the firm, the fund has received commitments from investors such as corporate and government pensions, sovereign wealth funds, financial institutions, foundations and endowments as well as fund of funds across Japan, US, Canada, non-Japan Asia and Europe. Longreach Group added that many existing investors have returned to support the firm&#8217;s third fund.
Through the third fund, Longreach Group will continue its strategy of focusing on control buyout investments in Japan with a related Greater China focus. The firm’s sector focus for investing continues to be the mature industrial and technology, business services and consumer-related sectors.
LCP3 is said to have <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/stories/longreach-group-reaches-200m-first-close-of-north-asia-buyout-fund-64447/">hit the first close of the fund at $200 million</a> in February 2017.
Corporate carve-out buyouts in Japan also remain a core focus, together with value creation strategies that enhance portfolio companies’ growth performance, including into the Asian markets. As at the final closing of the third fund, Longreach has already deployed the fund into its first two buyout investments, with a third investment signed.

With offices in Tokyo and Hong Kong, The Longreach Group manages three funds which have accumulated approximately $2.1 billion of committed limited partner and co-investment capital. Last July, it launched a tender offer to acquire majority stake in Fujitsu Component (FCL) at a valuation of JPY13.7 billion ($123.6 million).
