Japanese communications production company AOI Tyo Holdings Inc, through its subsidiary AOI Pro Asia, has acquired a 36 per cent stake in Vietnam-based VF Investment JSC, it said in a filing.
The remaining 64 per cent equity is owned by four other shareholders. These founding members, including the company’s CEO Truong Minh Tuan, reduced their holding to 16 per cent each, according to a registration document dated October 25 obtained by DEALSTREETASIA.
VF Investment is the parent firm of VF Media, a major TV commercials production company in Vietnam. VF Media boasts of top revenues in the industry, said AOI Tyo.
Following the transaction, both VF Investment and VF Media will become affiliated businesses of AOI Tyo. The Japanese firm said the acquisition will help it expand in Southeast Asia, a market it views as promising.
Founded in 2015, VF Investment recorded VND114.4 billion ($5 million) in net sales, according to the Japanese investor.
In 2016, TV ad expenditure in the country was estimated at $1.07 billion and will possibly reach $1.3 billion by 2018, according to statistics portal Statista.
