Singapore-based venture capital firm Jungle Ventures is set to hold the final close of its third venture capital fund next month, according to two limited partners (LPs) aware of the development.
In a filing with the US SEC in December 2018, Jungle Ventures had listed a $200-million target for the fund. International Finance Corporation (IFC) had in July last year disclosed that it was considering an investment of up to $5 million in the VC&#8217;s fund.
Jungle Ventures declined to comment for this story.
The VC firm, which was co-founded by Anurag Srivastava and Amit Anand in 2010, had raised $100 million for its second fund in 2016. LPs in its funds include Temasek Holdings, IFC, National Research Foundation of Singapore, Hubert Burda Media and family offices such as those run by the Kewalram Chanrai Group and Khoon Hong Kuok.
Jungle Ventures targets early-stage companies in consumer technology, SME enterprise solutions, as well as global tech disruptors. Its third fund will focus on Series A and B investments, with seed-stage deals largely being handled by offshoots SeedPlus and HealthXCapital.
The VC&#8217;s portfolio companies include budget hotel brand RedDoorz, on-demand video streaming service iflix, fashion retailer Pomelo, and consumer credit platform PaySense.
<h3>Others on the fundraising trail</h3>
Southeast Asia is seeing a flurry of fundraising-related news this month. Last week, DEALSTREETASIA reported that Singapore-based venture capital firm Vickers Venture Partners is seeking to <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/stories/vickers-venture-fund-vi-126109/">hit the first close of its sixth fund</a>, which is raising up to $500 million, by mid-2019. The fund, which will be the VC&#8217;s largest to date, will focus on investments in the biotechnology, nanotechnology, and artificial intelligence (AI) sectors.
VC firm Golden Gate Ventures, meanwhile, is seeking <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/stories/golden-gate-growth-fund-125481/">$200 million for a new growth fund</a> in partnership with South Korea’s Hanwha Asset Management. It has already secured commitments worth $80 million so far for the new fund, which will invest in Southeast Asia’s Series B stage startups.
Earlier this month, budget airline AirAsia&#8217;s digital venture arm RedBeat Ventures <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/stories/airasia-venture-fund-124214/">launched a new VC fund</a> with a corpus of $60 million. Called RedBeat Capital, the fund will target post-seed stage startups seeking to enter or expand their presence in Southeast Asia, with a particular focus on travel and lifestyle, logistics, and fintech.
