KKR has launched Helix Digital Infrastructure, a new platform focused on financing and developing AI-related infrastructure, with more than $10 billion of committed capital from founding investors, including the Kuwait Investment Authority, NVIDIA and Vistra.

Helix will invest in and manage infrastructure supporting artificial intelligence workloads, including hyperscale data centres, power generation and transmission assets, fibre networks and connectivity infrastructure. The company will be led by former Amazon Web Services CEO Adam Selipsky, while KKR’s Global Head of Digital Infrastructure, Waldemar Szlezak, will serve as chief investment officer.

The platform is designed to address growing demand from hyperscalers for integrated infrastructure solutions as AI deployment accelerates globally. NVIDIA will act as a strategic technology partner, while Vistra will serve as Helix’s preferred power provider.

The launch comes amid a surge in investment into AI infrastructure, with data centre operators, cloud providers and investors racing to secure power, connectivity and computing capacity to support next-generation AI applications. KKR said Helix will serve as a single point of coordination for hyperscalers seeking to build and scale AI infrastructure more efficiently.

The initiative is backed by KKR’s infrastructure business, which manages more than $100 billion in infrastructure assets globally and has invested over $70 billion across digital infrastructure and power-related sectors.

“Useful AI has arrived, and demand for AI factories is extraordinary,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA.

“AI is driving the largest infrastructure buildout in modern history. With NVIDIA DSX platform and the Helix strategic partnership, we are bringing together a proven AI factory blueprint, world-class infrastructure expertise from KKR, and long-term capital to help AI cloud providers build the next generation of intelligence infrastructure.”
