<a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/tag/Venturra-Capital">Venturra Capital</a>, the venture capital arm of Indonesian conglomerate <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/tag/Lippo">Lippo</a>, has injected capital into three companies to open its account on seed stage investing through its newly launched fund.
In an interaction with DEALSTREETASIA, Venturra partner Raditya Pramana revealed that the firm’s second fund, named Venturra Discovery, has already invested in two Indonesia-based startups companies Club Alacarte and Medigo, as well as Singapore startup generator <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/tag/Antler">Antler</a>.
Club Alacarte is an app-based premier dining membership program offering access to dining privileges across high end restaurants, while Medigo is a healthtech startup that offers online services including medical information, consultation and reference.
Antler, meanwhile, is a company that identifies and introduces talented entrepreneurs to a network of mentors, while also providing funding to a select group of entrepreneurs. This portal had earlier reported that Antler is on the road to raise a $15-20 million Southeast Asia-focused fund
Beyond these three investments, Pramana said, Venturra has completed one other deal, which it will announce very soon.
Pramana declined to disclose the size of the investments but explained that Venturra’s sweet spot is $200k-500k per investment. He also added that Venturra is the lead investor in two of these four rounds of funding.
Venturra announced the launch of its $15-million new fund in September, which comes three years after the launch of its first fund of $150 million, which counts Ruangguru, Zilingo, Sociolla and Happy Fresh as portfolio companies.
Differently to the first fund, which invested in Series A and above, Venturra said, its second fund will target seed stage startups in order to fill a gap brought about by the decrease in the number of early-stage funding channels in Southeast Asia.
Pramana said, the firm now aims to share insights derived from its past higher-stage investments to nurture early-stage companies.
“We have a very strong track record in growing Series A companies to levels beyond. The knowledge base that we&#8217;ve been building is very useful for early-stage companies to avoid future mistakes and pitfalls before it happened. We guide the entrepreneurs so they can set the right priorities in building their company, and focus on what matters,” he said.
Pramana added that Venturra is looking to make more investments before the end of the year, and is currently closely looking at several potential deals. Going forward, while it maintains a strong presence in Indonesia, the firm says it will look to increase its activities all other major Southeast Asian countries like Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand.
