Malaysia&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=ihh">IHH Healthcare Bhd</a> expects to acquire at least a 34-35 per cent stake in India&#8217;s Fortis Healthcare Ltd, if its bid is successful.
“The consensus we’ve received from our discussions with various minority shareholders (of Fortis) is that they don’t want to exit. We believe some of them are also IHH shareholders and having seen our performance, they want to continue riding on growth with us,&#8221; IHH managing director Tan See Leng told the local media after the group&#8217;s annual general meeting.
Tan added that the details would be made clearer after the Fortis board meeting scheduled on May 30, following which IHH hopes to be able to conduct due diligence on Fortis.
Based on the latest development of the bidding war, Fortis said it had received the <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/stories/fortis-consortium-bidding-98625/">green light </a>from Hero Enterprise Investment Office and Burman family Office to re-open the bidding process, weeks after the board accepted the consortium&#8217;s investment offer.
The ailing hospital chain has been in a five-way bidding war with local and international suitors wanting to invest in or acquire the firm.
IHH&#8217;s bid for Fortis stands at 175 rupees per share and a subsequent equity infusion at a per share price not exceeding 175 rupees. It has extended the acceptance period for IHH&#8217;s enhanced revised offer by another month, until June 30, 2018.
