The Malaysian Ministry of Finance has allocated MYR4 million ($1.17m) to technopreneurship accelerator initiative Coach &amp; Grow Programme (CGP) for its third season in 2015. 
<a href="http://www.cradle.com.my/about/coach-and-grow-programme/%20">CGP</a> is a public-private partnership between <a href="http://www.cradle.com.my/%20">Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd</a> and industry partner, Proficeo Sdn Bhd, putting together key players in the entrepreneurial ecosystem to support and fortify technology entrepreneurs.
Among some of the notable companies that have gone through the programme include SportBoleh, a company which helps athletes improve their form and performance with the help of  Lila-Movement Technology, a high-performance exo-skeleton suit. The other is Tootpay, a mobile financial solution that helps bring mobile banking services to mobile phone users including non-smartphones users.
Proficeo co-founder and chief evangelist V Sivapalan said the programme will continue to assist many technology entrepreneurs in the country.
“The programme has helped many companies scale-up and we will continue to work effectively with the funds we have to develop more success stories from the Malaysian technology entrepreneur ecosystem,” he said in a statement.
The <a href="http://www.cgp.com.my/">programme</a>, which started in 2011, has helped over 270 companies, of which 126 companies had completed the second run of the programme which ended in September 2014.
Two thirds of the companies participating in the second run are from the growth and global stages of growth while the remaining were early-stage companies.
CGP&#8217;s second batch of participants achieved MYR255.4 million ($74.6 million) in sales and raised MYR38.9 million ($11.4 million) in capital from various parties throughout the 12-month duration of the programme. 
“In the CGP, we set market driven Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for all the companies and these KPIs are customised depending on the stage of growth of the participants.  For example, the KPI for early stage companies is to complete their prototypes and obtain pilot customers to validate their business idea,&#8221; he said.
Sivapalan said 49% of participants from this stage not only completed their prototypes but were already at a revenue generating stage. 
The KPI for growth and global stage companies was to achieve a minimum of 20% growth in sales. Of the total participation, 62% of growth stage companies and 67% of global stage companies achieved this.
On penetrating global markets, 67% of the businesses under the CGP programme have entered at least one new market during the 12-month duration. 
“The key objective of the CGP is to build scalable ventures at all stages of growth. The program is structured to help companies move confidently from one stage of growth to the next in the venture life cycle. Revenue generation, product-market fit, customer segmentation and funds are therefore key elements that all of them focus on during the program,” he said.
Cradle chief executive officer, Nazrin Hassan said the CGP was instrumental in helping good technology companies, given the coaching from seasoned entrepreneurs, investors and senior management from corporate Malaysia.
