The <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://mastersofcode.com/">MasterCard Masters of Code</a> will now have a Singapore edition, announced MasterCard, adding that the competition is slated to be held end of March.
Sponsored and hosted by the MasterCard and organised by <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.angelhack.com/" target="_blank">AngelHack</a>, the Masters of Code competition brings world’s top developers, designers and entrepreneurs together to take on the <a href="https://developer.mastercard.com/portal/display/api/API" target="_blank">MasterCard APIs.</a>
Using these APIs, they are challenged to build commerce applications that leverage on the data insights, services and products available from MasterCard.
The emphasis for participating teams is developing products that are refined, innovative and scalable across international markets.
The third in a series of ten hackathons organised throughout 2015, the Singapore installment will cover the spheres of a refined commerce experience, as well as put a special focus on women in technology.
Building on the success of the recent <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://www.abc6.com/story/28090749/first-mastercard-masters-of-code-team-crowned-in-sydney" target="_blank">competition in Sydney</a>, MasterCard announced that that competition will be held in <a style="color: #000080;" href="http://mastersofcode.com/event/singapore/">Singapore</a> on March 28th and 29th.
Competing teams will be awarded for gender diversity in their composition, earning bonus points during the judging process. The winning teams will have a chance to compete in the Grand Finale Masters of Code Hackathon in Silicon Valley, scheduled for December 2015.

Members of the judging panel are drawn from the entrepreneurial, finance and startup communities. The judging panel will include: Dr Virginia Cha, entrepreneur-in-residence at Singapore Management University (SMU); Neal Cross, managing director and chief innovation officer of DBS Bank; TV Seshadri, group executive of global products and solutions (APAC) for MasterCard; Sebastien Taveau, chief developer evangelist of Open API at MasterCard; and Michael Yap, CEO &amp; founder of <a href="http://theco-foundry.com/" target="_blank">The Co-Foundry</a>, a startup accelerator.

According to SPRING Singapore, a statutory board responsible for enterprise development, the number of active startups in Singapore has grown by 80 per cent since 2005, numbering more than 40,000 today. This startup ecosystem leverages on the strong foundation of Singapore&#8217;s favourable business environment and educational infrastructure.
Other APAC-based events for the 2015 MasterCard Masters of Code competition will take place in Hong Kong (March 21-22) and Singapore (March 28-29). Additional host cities in Brazil, Canada, Israel, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States will also host the hackathons.
