Early-stage venture capital firm <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/tag/matrix-india" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Matrix Partners India</a> has raised an additional $21 million for its third fund taking the total amount raised by the vehicle to $321 million, according to an SEC filing.
According to a regulatory filing, the fund received commitments of $320,707,071 from a total 80 investors.
Matrix Partners India, which operates as a subsidiary of <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/matrix">Matrix Partners</a>, specialises in seed stage, early stage, Series-A, early growth stage, growth capital and follow-on investments. It selectively makes later-stage investments.
Matrix Partners India had, in August this year, disclosed raising $300 million from 43 investors.
Founded in 2006, Matrix Partners India has invested in several market leading companies such as Ola (local transportation), Quikr (online classifieds), Practo (digital health platform), Dailyhunt (mobile local language platform), Treebo (digital hotel chain), Mswipe (mobile POS), Five Star Business Finance (SME lending), Razorpay (payments), OfBusiness (credit led B2B marketplace), and Belong (recruitment platform) among others.
Most recently, it co-led a $9 million funding round with Ventureast in marketing cloud platform MoEngage&#8217;s Series B round. 
Avnish Bajaj, Matrix Partners India&#8217;s co-founder and managing director, used to run eBay India and has additional experience at Apple. A Harvard graduate, Bajaj co-founded Matrix Partners India in 2006.
Matrix Partners declined to comment on the development.
A number of India-focused venture capital firms have reached major milestones in their fundraising efforts recently, led by Sequoia Capital India which closed its sixth fund at $695 million targeting early and growth stage investments across India and Southeast Asia (SEA). Another early-stage investor, Endiya Partners, is reported to be raising a Rs 500 crore ($68.5 million) fund while impact investor Aavishkaar is out to raise $300 million. Quadria-backed HealthQuad is also in the market to raise $100 million.
Matrix Partners China, the Chinese arm of US venture capital firm Matrix Partners, also raised an additional $77.9 million for its fifth venture capital fund. In June, the venture capital firm raised $750 million for its Matrix Partners China V with participation from about 53 LPs.
