Indonesia-based hospital management system (HMS) startup <a href="http://www.medico.id/">Medico.id</a> has secured undisclosed amount of seed funding from <a href="http://east.vc/">East Ventures</a> to bring their product to the market.
Medico.id is founded by Grace Tahir, daughter of Indonesian tycoon and owner of <a href="http://www.mayapadagroup.com/">Mayapada Group</a> Dato Sri Tahir, and Jonathan Sutantyo, who have a combined 30 years experience in the healthcare industry.
Medico.id aims to help healthcare providers provide smooth and effective service to their customers.
Medico.id, which is still in development phase, plans to launch in the second quarter of this year.  The seed funding will be used to hire top talent and enhance the system for a rollout by early second quarter this year.
“Healthcare potential in Indonesia has been under-served for the longest time. Bad user experience in the hospital and clinics have been reported in the news once a while. We believe Grace and team have expertise to nail this problem and bring healthcare services to the next level,” added Willson Cuaca, Managing Partner, East Ventures.
Indonesia has close to 30,000 healthcare providers including hospitals, clinics and pharmacies, and this number is projected to grow 10-13% within the next five years. The current healthcare IT spend stands at $2 billion and it is projected to increase to over $6 billion in 2019.
Medico.id said, in a statement, it plans to be at the forefront in equipping providers with a fully integrated HMS that is both credible and affordable to help them seamlessly transition to a digital and modern healthcare provider.
East Ventures, Indonesia&#8217;s active venture investor, recently put seed capital into <a href="http://www.dealstreetasia.com/stories/indonesia-health-service-startup-konsula-gets-seed-funding-from-east-ventures-14856/www.konsula.com">Konsula</a>, another Jakarta-based healthcare startup, which addresses the disparity in healthcare services in the country.
Although there are currently more than 160,000 doctors in Indonesia, it is still difficult to obtain healthcare services.
Based on Konsula’s research, such disparity can be mitigated  by establishing an online doctors’ directory where users can search the best doctor who suits their conditions and book an appointment with the doctor.
