The online gaming market in Southeast Asia is estimated at $784.4 million, by revenue, for the current year. This was disclosed by a survey report on online gaming, which was conducted bu the Asian games market intelligence firm Niko Partners
The survey polled around 10,000 PC online gamers in six SEA countries — Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam &#8211; which collectively have more mobile gamers (119 million) than PC online gamers ( 97 million).
Tagged &#8220;2014 Southeast Asian Games Market Report&#8221;, the study included a five-year market forecast for the six SEA countries, wherein Indonesia is predicted to have the fastest growth in revenue and Vietnam will have the fastest growth in the number of online gamers by 2018.
Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam are predicted to be leaders in online gaming, driving growrh and generating revenue; each market with its own drivers and inhibitors for growth.
Compared to last year&#8217;s figures, there are now more PC gamers who play mobile games. The study indicated that 25 per cent claimed of not playing mobile games in 2013 which is in sharp contrast to only seven per cent his year 2014.
