Monk’s Hill Ventures, a venture capital firm that invests in high-growth, post-seed stage technology startups in Southeast Asia, has announced the appointment of Mohd Ridzwan (Reez) Nordin as the firm’s venture partner, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

In a statement, Monk’s Hill Ventures said Reez will be tasked to assist the firm’s portfolio companies by growing their businesses, hiring talents, and expanding their presence in more locations.

Reez said he plans to spend more time connecting with various players in the region’s technology ecosystems, in addition to sourcing potential deals.

“There is much to learn from each other, with a myriad of opportunities to contribute to each other’s growth while at the same time seeking out areas of potential partnership to further grow the regional ecosystem,” Reez said.

Reez joins Monk’s Hill Ventures from Malaysia’s strategic investment fund, Khazanah Nasional, where he was most recently part of the technology investment team.

He took his MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management and co-founded Kaymbu in Boston, a family engagement and classroom documentation tool for early education programs.

Reez began his career in KPMG Consulting in New York City, helping clients optimize their technology infrastructure, according to Monk’s Hill.

Monk’s Hill Ventures, which has offices in Singapore and Jakarta, said it invests in entrepreneurs who are leveraging technology to take advantage of the fast-growing Southeast Asian markets.
