Australia-based <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=AMP%20Capital">AMP Capital</a>, a diversified investment manager backed by Japan&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=Mitsubishi%20UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation">Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation</a> (MUFG), has made a senior appointment in Hong Kong as part of efforts to expand its Global Listed Real Estate (GRLE) capability.
The ASX-listed wealth management firm said it has appointed Hiderachu Ichi as portfolio manager / analyst in the GLRE team, bringing the number of investment professionals in the team to 14. Ichi will be based in Hong Kong from July 2.
Ichi, who has over 18 years of financial experience, was most recently a senior portfolio manager at APG Asset Management Asia, covering Japan and Australia within the firm&#8217;s listed real estate Asia Pacific team, for seven years.
His other previous roles include portfolio management and research roles at <a href="https://www.dealstreetasia.com/?s=CBRE%20Global Real Estate Securities">CBRE Global Real Estate Securities</a> and Taiyo Pacific Partners as well as corporate finance and equity sales roles at Nikko Securities.
&#8220;The appointment reflects the growth opportunities for GLRE and the importance of the Japanese market,&#8221; AMP Capital said.
Additionally, the Australian investment firm appointed Anika Minocha to the role of portfolio manager / analyst, based in Sydney, from July, after completing various rotations on the AMP Capital graduate program.
“Ichi will bring valuable expertise in the allocation of capital within the Japanese market and, along with Anika, will provide an essential contribution to the broader GLRE team,” said James Maydew, Capital Head of GLRE.
AMP, founded in Australia almost 170 years ago, offers various services such as financial advice, investment management, banking, superannuation, self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs), life insurance, retirement income and investing.
AMP Capital holds a 15 per cent stake in the China Life AMP Asset Management Company Limited (CLAMP), a funds management company that offers retail and institutional investors in China access to investment solutions.
AMP, which is 15 per cent owned by Japan’s MUFG, said it serves over 290 international clients in areas including Hong Kong, China, Japan, the UK, Europe, the Middle East and the US.
